Abstract for a presentation at mda Conference 'Common Threads' at Birmingham Botanical Garden on 5th September 2002

Abstract

The project will provide improved management of and access to images and information about the collections of Shrewsbury Museums Service, its buildings and the heritage of Shrewsbury and its region (via intranet and internet), building on the Museums Service database (ShrewD) and innovative approach/technology of 'Darwin Country' lifelong learning website (http://www.darwincountry.org). It will also provide an in-Reception multimedia introduction to Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and the Darwin Country website (via touch-screen) for all visitors, thus providing access to those unable to get-in-person access to other parts of the building. A website version will also be made available via http://www.shrewsburymuseums.com as pre-visit information or for those unable to visit the museums in person.
